Leveraging AstraZeneca infrastructure and expertise:
The first of three BioVentureHub Impact Stories
Launched in 2015, AstraZeneca's BioVentureHub has emerged as a groundbreaking, non-profit, innovation hub.
Integrated inside AstraZeneca's R&D centre in Gothenburg, the BioVentureHub offers scale-up companies and academic groups unique access to AstraZeneca’s advanced laboratories, technological resources and scientific expertise.
The BioVentureHub plays an important role in strengthening the life science ecosystem and accelerating SME growth. It does this by bringing together diverse scientific talent and approaches, by fostering a ‘dare-to-share’ community culture and by facilitating knowledge sharing, mutual growth and collaborative innovation.
Also, by incorporating SMEs with strategic relevance to AstraZeneca, the BioVentureHub enhances synergistic potential, creating significant value for all involved.
Growing innovation together – turning challenges into opportunities
The BioVentureHub is an important connection between AstraZeneca and the wider life science community, driving advancements in drug discovery and development, medtech, deeptech, diagnostics and digital health solutions.
It effectively tackles the primary challenges facing emerging life science companies, namely accessing necessary resources and specialized expertise.
Through infrastructure sharing, knowledge exchange, and fostering a collaborative dare-to-share culture, the BioVentureHub enables smaller companies to accelerate their R&D processes, navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and achieve crucial milestones.
Alumni success stories
A testament to the success of the BioVentureHub is evident in the growth stories of three of its alumni companies based at GoCo Health Innovation City.
OnDosis, Promimic, and I-Tech leveraged the resources and expertise available at the BioVentureHub to accelerate their development, secure investments and reach significant business milestones.
Their journey from the BioVentureHub to GoCo House exemplifies the transformative impact and influence of the BioVentureHub community on the wider ecosystem, as well as on the growth of emerging companies and innovations in the life science sector.
One of the companies to be presented is OnDosis. OnDosis is a spinout from AstraZeneca, matured on the outside and then brought back to AstraZeneca, through BioVentureHub. Now OnDosis have grown out of the BioVentureHub and moved to GoCo House.
They had a really interesting journey, with a high level of value creation involved.
